Position Summary

The Litigation Paralegal provides comprehensive support to attorneys throughout all phases of the litigation process. This role is responsible for case management, document preparation, legal research, discovery coordination, trial preparation, and maintaining case files. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys with all phases of litigation, from case inception through trial and appeal.
  • Maintain and organize physical and electronic case files.
  • Draft, proofread, and file legal documents, including pleadings, motions, notices, subpoenas, and correspondence.
  • Coordinate and manage the discovery process, including document collection, review, production, and tracking.
  • Prepare discovery requests and responses, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission.
  • Conduct legal and factual research using online research tools and public records databases.
  • Monitor court deadlines and maintain attorney calendars.
  • Prepare and file court documents through state and federal electronic filing systems.
  • Coordinate depositions, mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and trial logistics.
  • Review, summarize, and analyze medical, employment, financial, and other case-related records.
  • Communicate with clients, expert witnesses, court personnel, opposing counsel, and vendors.
  • Prepare trial materials, including exhibits, witness lists, trial binders, and demonstrative evidence.
  • Assist attorneys during hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials.
  • Track billable time and maintain accurate case-related records.
  • Ensure compliance with court rules, procedural requirements, and firm policies.

Qualifications

Education

  • Associate's degree or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved or accredited program preferred.

Experience

  • 3+ years of litigation paralegal experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting multiple attorneys and managing a high-volume caseload.
  • Familiarity with state and federal court procedures.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of litigation processes and legal terminology.
  • Experience with e-filing in state and federal courts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with legal case management, document management, and e-discovery platforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize competing deadlines and work independently.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail.
